It’s Almost Musical

I remember it started in a room where people were working out. I also remember being in a grungy part of a city and was creeped out by some guy with a gray hat.

Later, I was watching a movie screening and was impressed with the technology. It made the surroundings black and it was 3D without the glasses. The story started with an animated title sequence with a map and cartoon helicopters visited different places on the map. It was named [something] Interceptor or something weird like that.

The story began with two Arab boys explaining what they plan to do once they escape their situation. I think they were child slaves, but I’m not sure because the movie was in Arabic and I don’t know that language, yet. When they began telling their dreams to each other, the scene would cut to an animation showing it as they spoke.

They stopped it after the second child talked about his dream. Some guys in the back didn’t like the “dreams” because they were too American and I guess they wanted them more inspired by the middle eastern culture.

I was sitting next to the score composer, who was played by a younger Edward Norton in my dream. His bitchy girlfriend was played by Cameron Diaz.

The composer got up and went to the screen area, which was now part of a movie set on a large lot. He was worried they didn’t like the music. I went over and explained what was going on and that his music was fine. Arab men were saying, “no, no, no, no, no” in Arabic to the director. I joked with the composer that rejection in Arabic is pretty cool: “La, la, la, la, la…It’s almost musical.” He laughed at that.

We started walking through the set/lot. We got to one area and actors were walking down a fake street with old white curly wigs on. The composer asked me if I liked a certain classical music composer. It might have been Brahms. Whoever it was, a nearby restaurant was playing music by them. I told him I almost chose music for a major.

We got close to another large set/restaurant and his girlfriend came over. I didn’t want to piss her off even more, so I said, “Have fun!” and started walking away. He said, “I’ll see you later…I will see you later, right?” I said, “Sure.”

He soon started following me and we had a conversation and he ended up walking in front of me while we talked. We went up and down stairs, in and out of sets. There was even one set that I had to move a couch because the coffee table was too close for me to walk through.

I don’t remember much more than that.
