I remember a weird scene of trying to keep up with people who were going to go through a time portal.
I felt kinda dumb because I hadn’t studied new advances in time travel and one of the characters had to tell me things I felt he thought I should have known.
One of the things was that moments has something like “surface tension” and were related to each other like connected bubbles: the past and future sharing a side.
Of course, I missed the jump because I had to use the restroom and the closest one in this school we were in was way down the hall through some art studios.
I remember playing a dream game with some sort of narrative where I had to keep an object hidden.
There was a scene on a street that was like a 360 immersive scene where if I faced one way, a scene would play out to advance the plot and another scene would play when I looked another way.
I showed someone how cool the dream tech was by demonstrating how compartments in a room open with levers and feel like they do in real life – none of this click and it opens crap you might see in a 2D environment.
Part of the dream involved some bad guy disguising two characters pretending to be on my side. I had to play along the best I could. The guy eventually tried to make me feel bad because they had to move to Minnesota if I didn’t tell them where I hid this object.
Just like Winnie-the-Pooh, the song “Wheels on the Bus” is becoming a recurring element. I last had it in a dream about an alien invasion and their spaceship looked like a large teddy bear.
This time, I was in a dream space, playing with dream tech. The overall environment and theme were “post-apocalypse.” I stayed in a set of buildings without walls (they were being constructed).
Some group started using my table and I confronted them. I told them I don’t care if they use the stuff because nothing is owned by one person anymore. We’d have to share for survival, but if they planned on just using stuff in the future, “Don’t.” I explained too many others would kill you over objects.
We ate a meal – I think it was baby chicks, but I’m not sure. I remember it had tiny ribs that would get stuck in your teeth and hurt your tongue. I had to dig out the bones.
Later, I was going to act like an insane character because the other players were sane and reasonable. I remember hoarding shampoos and lotions upside down in a beat up car.
I later skipped under (well, on the first floor) one of the buildings. The ground was gray gravel and my feet would slide on the stones. I remember singing/humming “The Wheels on the Bus.” Every time I’d get to one edge, I saw red lasers from guns and someone would try to fire at me from the floor above. I would just turn around and skip and sing to the other side, annoying the hell out of the gun-toting characters.
I remember dreaming that I was staying someplace with my mom and she kept trying to wake me up to have me watch the breaking news about an earthquake. It wasn’t even that big of an earthquake. I remember seeing a news graphic drawing a line through just north of the Canadian border near Vancouver.
Note: This is censored more than normal to protect people’s privacy.
I remember watching a news segment way after the fact about an event on the campus I work at. The reporters interviewed a guy at a buyback/bookseller tent at the southwest corner of the park across the street and I got excited when I saw my office building behind he guy.
It was pouring rain and I remembered going to work that day laughing at the fact there was an event where people dressed in dresses and other clothing from the 1800s only to cover them up with modern jackets and coats, holding modern umbrellas. I kept expecting me to walk by in the shot, but they cut before that.
I remember being on campus after the rain and speaking with a character. I was showing off the campus, but it changed to a completely different campus and street. I pointed to an area that had dumpsters, construction equipment, and old things just thrown there for storage. Behind it was a stone wall because the land jutted up a story and there was a road above. It was a place people would go for secret conversations, drug deals, etc. because it’s usually ignored and partly hidden.
I told the character that the university had to add a tag to some library book sensors because new regulations. The tag said it contained radioactive materials. I partly thought it was a tactic to keep people from going there, but laughed because it was only 0.4 microsieverts per hour, so not as dangerous as they make it out to be. (Note: I think you get more exposure to ionizing radiation on a commercial flight.)
Later, we went looking for a computer in a library. I couldn’t understand why the character wanted to go there when my office building had a library that was nicer. (In waking life, there isn’t a library in my building.)
We got to a strange elevator and he got in and sent me a message through some dumbwaiter thing. One piece of paper was receipt paper showing results about something and another message was an explanation about how he had to take the job to be a MANTEE. I thought, “It’s just like the government to use an acronym for a position.” I pictured it to be something in “clean up” whatever that means, but it meant transferring to another part of the country. The message appeared to be something he felt guilty about, but I didn’t care. I didn’t have a reason to judge him.
One paper had a written date: 9/22 – I don’t remember the year.
I remember beta testing a new dream tech element – a Let’s Play. Basically, someone would play a dream game and it would be “recorded” and “played back” as a dream.
The dream game was similar to Slender Man (or what I’ve seen of it) but it was based in the building of the game developers. It was an open layout with a map and information board in the middle of the open space. The office chairs looked modern and comfortable.
It started out with some people at their computers. The player explored, looking around for messages taped to walls. When he came back to the information board, the place was deserted. I remember feeling the fear creep into the player.
The Slender Man-like character was some hooded character and wouldn’t move if the player looked at it. The player kept looking away to complete the game. I thought I’d stare at the character the entire time until I had enough room to run.
I found that even in situations I usually wouldn’t feel fear and other emotions, the technology recorded them when the player felt them and played them back to the “viewer.”
I remember walking down some steps with some girl who needed a ride. I found out I went down the wrong steps because there were no sidewalks to my car. I walked over the mulch surrounding a tree. The building was an old high-rise.
There was a weird scene where I drew something (a fish, I think) and the girl was cutting into some foam and wanted me to cut the designs I was drawing into it. I agreed, but I ended up cutting it into her arm like a really bad way to do a tattoo. It didn’t seem to bother her, though.
Some gangster guy came through the door I should have walked out of and the girl made up some story about who I was (to protect me). He left and a group of “agents” I was working with in the dream came over to talk to me. They were trying to get information about the guy or something. I told them they were stupid for coming over so quickly and the guy might return any minute.
What do you know, the guy did return. I pretended to be in mid-argument with the guy I was talking to, getting in his face and telling him I was “only giving her a tattoo!”
I remember waking up in the dream and looking out a window with blinds on my left. I saw an old space shuttle (with the orange fuel part) take off on the right and a newer SpaceX-type of ship take off directly ahead. The fire appeared to be as bright as a sunrise and I remember that it was a clue that it was a dream. However, since it was tied in with the lift off, I ignored the idea that it was a dream.
The shuttle got halfway into the sky then floated to the left – I thought it was normal for some reason.
Three passenger airplanes took off and were blown up by missiles. I thought, “Oh great, what day is this? May…something? It’s going to be another stupid date to remember like 9/11.”
In the same dream, I turned toward the room and saw a polar bear sleeping in a large box. There were people around, so I said, “Does anyone else think the polar bear is a weird thing to have in a box?”
I went over to pet it and it turned into a baby black bear. I somehow had scrubs on and rubber gloves and I was holding the struggling crying bear explaining to it that it’s only really uncomfortable the first time. I was doing some experiment on the bear to help study it, but not hurt it, but sympathized that the bear was outside what was familiar to it. I even said to it, “What you’re feeling is probably what people feel like when they are abducted and studied by aliens.”
