There was a character with long ears – maybe a rabbit? It had to go through 2D side-scrolling “puzzle” levels similar to things I’ve seen in Super Mario Maker, but all on one screen like old arcade games. The character could jump, grab, push, and duck like Mario to get through the obstacles. On top of that, the character was a bounty hunter trying to take in another character alive, a character that constantly tried to run away and add obstacles. On top of that, on another level, he had to save a girl character who starts out afraid and unmoving to eventually being an equal partner with the main character getting out of the levels.
After waking up, I thought I’d also have the character drop off the bounty and the couple finds a stray dog character that is attracted to high-pitch noises and afraid of low-pitch noises and later find out that the main character can whistle to train the dog to help get them out of levels.
I was explaining to someone how we’d have to worry less about the Valley of the Uncanny in Dream Tech because we can program it so the person’s mind creates the character (covering up any small things that create the repulsion) and/or program it so the person doesn’t care about the weirdness of the AI characters.
I remember a scene in a shop of some sort and I was geeking out over a 35mm film camera that had raised numbers on dials that went together like gears so you could set them to the proper exposure, and when you wanted to change the aperture or shutter speed it updated the other aspect to ensure the same exposure.
I saw in a reflection that I had a bruise on my left cheek. When I looked closer, I saw the numbers from the camera in my cheek. I assumed I was hit in the face with the camera, but I didn’t remember it.
I remember a scene in a hospital and the floors were just waxed. I remember seeing the prints of crutches and tennis shoes.
Later, I used a phone where 1 was for the speaker and 2 went to another desk. I talked to a guy there and asked about some woman named Nancy. He gave me details about how she was, but nothing too detailed. He got suspicious and I told him I was from IT security doing a random test to see if departments were giving out too much information and that they passed the test with flying colors.
I remember being in a college newsroom and hearing that a new Miami Vice was going to be made. I said I’d do something easy like getting college student and staff’s opinion, you know, “Man on the Street” kind of thing.
I was going to go around some offices in an area nearby that was partly under construction. I found a nice empty office with large floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked an area where a new building was being built. There was a vanity license plate on the ground that said, “Miami Vice.”
I looked at the office and wondered if I could move into it. In waking life, my office doesn’t have windows. I watched as construction workers in yellow hard hats and plaid shirts and safety vests work on the foundation for the new building. It was flooded from recent rains and muddy.
The worker on the left who was sitting to get to the place he was working on passed out and started snoring instantly. I assumed he had narcolepsy. Even though he was near the water, he was in a safe position. His coworker woke him up and the guy said he was just exhausted. He then passed out again and a tool he was holding fell in the water. He woke up and reached into the water to get his tool and passed out in the water. His coworker looked down and didn’t know anything was wrong until bubbles came up. He grabbed his clothing and arm to turn his face out of the water, but the coworker passed out as well. I ran from the room telling people to get help for the guys outside and that there might be a gas leak. I remember telling an official about why I was there and what I saw.
I remember experiencing/watching some movie based on a YA novel where there were kids with superpowers. Some became a violent group using their powers to scare people and wreck places. One of the “good” main characters named Miguel tried to avoid them in one scene by pretending to be asleep in his van until the gang left.
One of the gangs had a glass pyramid object that glowed blue and was attracted like a magnet to other “finders” (super power kids). The scene was interesting because after messing up a random car, they found the pyramid was glowing and the person with telekinesis had it float toward where it was being pulled. It pulled over to Miguel’s van where there were several other glowing pyramids. They looked in the van, but he wasn’t there. The strong guy pulled off the side of the van, but he wasn’t there either. He was hiding in the car behind the van, but I woke up before the next scene.
I had several false awakenings as well.
I seriously wish this dream comes true someday. It was awesome.
I found a sci-fi series that already had four seasons and still running that had a female protagonist and was set in the near future. The show dealt with the social and cultural aspects of artificial intelligence. The protagonist was a character that was good, but also had shady connections that required thwarting security.
The show was an “experience” where, if you viewed the episodes online, you could have an immersive experience using Google Cardboard and other apps to add to the story. The Google Cardboard/Oculus Rift parts dealt with seeing the environments the story took place in – one was as the protagonist in an alley and the “game” was pointing out areas that might have a security camera. Another part was playing a detective/law enforcement person and going through “police reports” and listening to interviews (using AI within the website) to fill in the backstory of the characters. While that’s going on, you can add security camera feeds that notify you of when motion is detected. Many are false alarms, but also some scenes that advance the plot and add to the backstory.
IT WAS SO AWESOME. I even dreamed I told my mom about it and tried to get her interested.
Part of that turned into a dream where I was in the protagonist’s character in a flashback. I remember being in her bedroom and that parts were visible from the stairwell in the three-story home.
Outside, in and alley, there was a structure with three garage doors. A friend who was a bit more gutsy with exploring and I got into it through a regular door. We found that there was a smaller garage with one large door within a “shell.” I switched to the gutsy character. As her, I found a side door and used a flashlight to look around inside despite the other character being worried. The space was empty except for a large cart/trailer thing with pieces of wood that were cut to be squiggly and painted orange. I thought they were part of a stage production. I also thought the location would be a good hidden location because no one would know that it wasn’t a three-car garage from the outside.
I remember going into a lab in a college where I worked and some professor came in with a student to have them make up an assignment. I remember being half-asleep (really it was because I WAS asleep) and tried to find a way to appear that I was actually being productive. I remember pulling up a map on my tablet and zooming in. There was also something about turning on more lights in the room.
Later, I was at a weekend conference at OU where I do work in waking life and someone visiting got the school mixed up with Ohio State. She had an OSU store/bookstore gift card and I told her if she didn’t use it online, she should still go up to Columbus because there are free things to see like the library and the museum (it’s free on Sunday) and parks.
I remember trying to figure out if I was in a lucid dream by saying, “If I am dreaming, I can…” and made up things. They would come true for the most part, but some things were not exact.
I woke up in my car outside of some apartments at night. I opened the door and I was parked in a parking lot across from a river and a sidewalk. It was a comfortable temperature (maybe 60s?). Some southeast Asian girl to my left was wearing a coat and sat against my car as if she were waiting for someone. She looked at me like I was weird for sleeping in my car. I probably had the same face because she was leaning against a stranger’s car while they slept in it.
About one spot away, there was a guy sitting in the passenger side facing the river holding a camera or cell phone videoing the people walking by. His friend arrived exiting a pedestrian bridge, holding some guy, helping him walk. It was too dark to tell if the guy was drunk, beat up, or sick.
I remember looking at a great skyline that was partly covered by some trees on the right and considered staying at the apartment for another year because the view was good. I don’t remember what city it was, though. Outside of a general LeVeque Tower-looking building and the open spaces between the buildings (so not a LARGE city like NYC), nothing stood out that I could recognize.
There were other dreams, but I’ve forgotten most of them.
What I remember:
There was a classroom scene where Charlie* was sitting in the front row and some friend in the dream and I were in the back. I normally would sit in the front, but I sat back there to chat with my friend. It was some series of classes like a language and I remember thinking I’d get to sit up front with Charlie next semester because my friend won’t make it to the second class.
There were scenes about something hidden underground or in a basement and I brought it up when the blond guy who showed me the place was with some girl. He got angry that I said he showed me the place.
* Name has been changed.
I woke up with this song in my head:
I didn’t get a lot of sleep, but what I remember is driving down a street with lots of stop signs and on all the street signs, there was a scrawled symbol. It looked like an upside-down Anarchy symbol and, in the dream, I associated it with a branch of anarchy or something with shared beliefs.
There was some guy riding a mountain bike to my right holding an uzi on his lap. I thought that had to be the worse weapon to use while on a bike since it’s large and you would have to use one hand to steer the bike and you might accidentally grab the gun wrong if it almost falls off your lap.
I sped up to get away from him so he’d realize I didn’t care what he did, but thanks to the stop signs, we stayed at the same place. I tried slowing down, but that didn’t work. He wasn’t after me, we just ended up riding awkwardly next to each other.
He later attacked some car coming from the opposite direction. I think he hijacked the car – I don’t remember him firing the gun and his victim was unharmed, just scared. By then, I had already driven away.
There was a part of the dream that had debates by extreme candidates. They were young, so maybe it was a college group or something. However, we realized the people debating weren’t the most extreme on both sides. We later found out they were hooking up somewhere despite their difference in opinions because they both wanted the same thing, just to get it through different methods. In the end, it was a positive dream.
I also woke up with “House of the Rising Sun” by the Animals stuck in my head. That I know is from looking it up after seeing my friend’s status update about it being her favorite song.
Note: I looked up the symbol and found it is sometimes used for voluntaryism and also similar to the symbol in V for Vendetta, which is about voluntary order.
I remember a scene where I had my hands cuffed and being led into a small room with a harsh overhead light by a guy in a military uniform. He strapped me to a cold metal chair with a car battery nearby. Supposedly, the guy was supposed to use it to give me electric shocks to get me to provide information about something.
I don’t remember if I was the person they were looking for or if I even had the information they sought. I remember thinking the goal was to get out and pass that “level.” The guy interrogating me seemed like he was intelligent and well trained in psychological techniques to get people to talk. He was my age and I kept thinking, outside of this situation, this guy is probably a great guy.
I tried talking my way out of the situation and tried to explain my position and make deals with him. I remember offering to help, but not in the way he was expected to get me to do so.
Every time he’d turn away, I’d look over at the battery and try to figure out how the chair was put together to see if I could break it or stop the shock he threatened. I remember looking at exposed wires and tubes that went up and along the ceiling and the walls didn’t go all the way to the top. I could see the tops of lights in other similar rooms. Someone in another room screamed in pain. I smiled, realizing that was why the walls didn’t reach the ceiling. They wanted everyone to hear the screams. I also questioned if the screams were real or recorded since they were obviously trying to scare me.
I think by the end, the guy ended up hypnotizing me. I blacked out the rest of the session and came to as I was being led back to my “cell” that was in a long line of other cells. I don’t remember pain, just memory loss and that feeling of grogginess you get when waking up.
Later, I remember helping break out people but found one guy too late. He was being brainwashed into being a different person with a new name. Just as we were trying to get out, some government people found us and only some of us were able to get out of the compound.
I remember being on a city street and a lady asked about something and I said I didn’t know. She started walking in the crowd and I yelled, asking if she was looking for places for sale.
She was looking for places to locate her store. I remember showing her a place on State Route 682, a main road in The Plains. There was another on the far end of E. State Street in Athens. Some, I found out were not store buildings, but small apartments in converted houses and I felt I let her down for not knowing about this.
