“Drank a half bottle of water before bed. Having to pee made me have very vivid dreams, but woke me up partway through a sleep cycle, so I feel like I’m still in a dream. I keep feeling like I need to return to the movie theater where I left my friend, make the website in my head, look into when the next Beginning Russian course will be taught, write a story that takes place partially in Ashville because of all the “seed feeders,” give the Newseum the Go Pro photos I took for them, and unpark my car from the top of a minivan on some college campus I’ve been to before in a dream.”
– Hope Moore on Facebook
I will expand on these later.
There was a much longer story, but the first part I can remember begins where I was with a team and we had traveled to the past to tear down some area after the apocalypse. It was “tearing down” in a fast, not real way of removing a structure, but being able to delete/remove sections. Two of the guys tore down a large section quicker than I could follow them and I started to worry because I’d have to jump either a full 15-20 feet or try to jump to a higher area they still had up, but it was far from the scaffolding I was standing on. A girl in the group told me to look over as she moved a shorter scaffolding over. She pushed the one I was on so it tilted and I fell/jump onto the shorter one. The momentum made that one tip and I was able to safely jump to the ground. I thought it was clever and kind of her.
Another weird part was that the “ground” was in a river. I complained that the metal we were having to remove was ending up in what should have been fresh water, but was now contaminated with metal and eventually, rust. However, it was probably still cleaner than other sources of water at that time.
We went back to the future and I spent time looking for clues to whether we were in our “world” or another dimension. I remember thinking it was funny that I was using a term from Sliders. I found an upside down Ohio flag taped to the wall with masking tape. I found out that the states were no longer “united” and each state became sovereign. We thought we were in another world, but I suggested that it wasn’t another dimension, we just returned late due to time dilation. We chose a date and the travel seemed quick to us, but there was something we didn’t know to calculate with the technology that made what seemed like a half hour to us ended up being eight years and the state sovereignty came about on its own after the apocalypse.
I remember some movie being let out in a large building with a movie theater section. I thought my family and I were going to see a movie I wanted to see, but some other random guy said the movie was a Pixar movie – one I didn’t want to see. I was frustrated because I didn’t know if he was lying or if I screwed up on the plans.
I remember after people went in trying to read a sign with multiple faces near the front of the theater. The different theaters were called different things like “West Wing,” “East Wing,” etc. I looked over at the top of the door my family went in and it was the “Auditorium.” I looked back at the sign and stepped back and forth trying to read the sign. The words were blurry and the movies were shown as promotional images around 6 x 18 inches under the names of the rooms. I heard my dad behind me talk to a worker saying, “Oh, I’m just waiting for my daughter. I’m not sure what she’s doing.” This made me laugh because I pictured myself from someone else’s POV and I was literally stepping back and forth in front of a sign. I do remember one sign having Her as one of the movies and thought my parents and godfather would like that movie.
I was late for the movie, so to get my ticket, I had to go through some promotional animated cartoon thing that shamed me for being so late to the movie. It was a 3D immersive experience and first showed a “tutorial” for a game where a black human figure stood on a sidewalk path surrounded by a field of grass, a stone wall, and trees in the back. There was a large building to the right. A red ball with teeth (kinda like you would see at the beginning of an AMC movie) flew over to the person, turned, then ate the person shape. I thought, “Good to know there is that half-second while the ball monster turns to get away.”
I move to in front of the building – a hospital? There was a live-action teenager and an animated teenager looking at a screen to the right and an animated version of the first kid in between and behind them looking the opposite way. That one had a red motorcycle helmet that looked similar to the ball monster. I remember the live action guy doing a funny dance and then standing still, waiting for instructions. The middle one disappeared and turned into a red ball monster going for the live action kid. I told him to dance as if that was a way to avoid being eaten. He danced and the monster turned back into a teenager.
I went through the sliding doors of the building. My head was near the top of the doors and I realized the designer must have been tall and designed it to be from his POV.
This was all happening in a booth near the concession stand. My dad found me as he was on his way to the theater with food and a soda. I told him I’d catch up to them after I get my ticket and that I had to be shamed for being late by this game before I could get it.
I remember waking up and trying to remember scenes and thinking, “I’ve been there before.” Now, I don’t remember where this was.
I remember attending a conference in “the movie theater,” but it seemed also like the Union Terminal in Cincinnati that I visited on Jan. 2. I got to the auditorium doors and sat on a bench. There were others waiting and talking as well. I asked what time it was and I still had 10 min.
I decided that was enough time to rush to the restroom and get food. Although it is disgusting, I decided to get food first while the line was short and it was farther away than the restroom. I found they had some kind of square cheesecake slices and cups of pineapple pieces in juice.
The presentation was interesting and I remember a male presenter saying that we as a society need to focus less on strict deadlines, alarm clocks, snooze buttons, and how much sleep we think we are getting and more on getting quality, uninterrupted sleep.
I remember being in my parents’ house pre-2004 renovation. I remember wanting badly to go to a Fourth of July celebration happening at Buckeye Lake. I then thought about how far that was and how crowded and wondered if Indian Lake would be a better because I liked that place. Then, I thought it would be just as far and busy. I REALLY wanted to be on the water for Independence Day for some reason. Edwin* was there and suggested some place in Kentucky – Newport, I think.
Daniel*, who is hardly ever in my dreams, was there and I won’t provide details, but it was weird. Nice, but weird.
* Names were changed.
I think being sore, drinking water before going to bed, and worrying about driving on ice in the morning made me have lots of dreams.
This was a weird dream where Google and SpaceX were teaming up to create what they called “propulsion suits.” They looked like fitted gray suits normally, but they inflate and allow the wearer to float and fly up (not far). Instead of a balloon, the wearer looks like they are wearing a fake muscle suit, which allows for mobility. One neat detail was that, unlike Iron Man movies that show him often in a vertical position, the creators of this suit explained they work best in a lying position. The guy demoed this by diving into a float/hover. The suits were not only for space but to be a backup for parachutes. There was a device that would inflate the suit at a certain altitude and slow the fall of someone free falling, making it even help when the wearer was unconscious.
I later told a friend about them and try to explain that with the suit I’d be able to jump/float to the top of the event tent we were in. It was a two-story tent with red and white stripes. I also said it would have been more impressive if there weren’t things already floating in the air (this should have made me realize I was dreaming).
I remember being at home, but there was a ranch house in the back yard further up the hill. It was a half-lucid dream and I told myself to look for the house when I woke up. I couldn’t remember if it was real or not. My upstairs neighbors moved into it, but part of it was broken.
For some reason, they leaned two boards against an open window to create a place to roll something inside. They ended up driving a car up the “tracks,” they moved and the car hit and broke a window. One of the neighbors was in the house and looked outside.
I walked outside and a maroon PT cruiser pulled up and parked near the laundry area. The downstairs neighbor’s mom came out of the car.
I walked with her toward the east and instead of a hill, the land was flat and my porch was HUGE.
Kids were walking around in Halloween costumes and I asked, “Is it near Halloween?” and she shook her head.
Eventually, I remember a scene where a boy (who was old enough should have understood this crap already) said his school hasn’t taught how to break dollars into change and asked how many nickels in a dollar, etc. I explained the best way to start visualizing it was 100 pennies in a dollar. That’s 10 rows of 10 pennies. For a quarter, you want to half it, then half it again. For a dime, it’s one row of 10 and a nickel is half that. It sounds complicated, but I wanted to teach it visually, not using written numbers.
I remember having to drive on roads that were becoming icy, facing the sun and not being able to see.
I ended up on a city street in a poorer part of a city. It wasn’t dangerous, but it was a very poor area. I had a plastic bag of quarters and I was going to donate it to a school, but some poor guys walked by. I got lost looking for the school and just handed out the quarters to the poor people. A cop came over and said it was illegal without a permit. I didn’t understand how that kind of kindness could be illegal.
I remember a scene later when I finally found the school. They wanted information and I had forgotten the materials with that number. I found an ID card of sorts the woman at the desk said could work, but most people can’t find the Roman numeral she would need. I looked around and chose the number that showed the most: 6. Then I saw the “V” at the center top and said, “Wait, wait! Five!!!!”
I remember being in an audience with my parents watching some movie on a flat screen. The movie was called “Do” (as in “Do this” “Do that”) and was a long-awaited sequel to a movie that came out in 2009.
Someone made a lot of noise talking while finding their seat, so I paused the movie. When I played it again, I blanked out, then came back and I couldn’t understand why the screen was down the way. My mom said it was because I paused the movie and it’s taking forever to load now. There was a loading bar on the TV.
My mom and I decided to go to the restroom. While we were gone, my dad left to go to the lobby and “rant about France.” I was pissed because when we went back, people took our seats!
I also got mad because the family that took our seats had kids playing with large inflatable balls that made noises when bouncing off things. I said, I shouldn’t have to watch a movie with that sound in the background until I have kids myself!
I remember hanging out with my work friend at a movie theater. We were in the front row eating popcorn and we decided to leave because we got bored waiting for the movie to start.
Later, we were eating lunch on a stone wall (similar to the one near my office) and there was a car parked nearby with some guy watching me. I pointed out to my friend that there has been a car following me and a guy watching me for days.
That’s when the car pulls up and they throw me into the back.
I remember a vague scene where I was unblindfolded while being tied in a chair in some attic/loft area of a house. The leader of the criminal group said I was the wrong person.
Later, I remember explaining they don’t need to kill me, I have no reason to tell anyone of their organization.
I remember being in the lobby of the movie theater and I was dazed or something and wasn’t moving. There was a guy and girl to my left and they said hi, but I didn’t respond. Eventually, they each reached out to shake my hand with their hand in my in my field of vision. I shook it and looked over, but I don’t remember their faces. I think they were looking away. I only remember the jaw of the guy and I thought, “In the future, I will call him The-Guy-With-The-Jaw.”
I remember realizing I was dreaming, so I started levitating and moving things with my mind. Stupid things, though. First was a crumpled ball of paper in the trash bin to my right.
I turned around to face the large lobby and saw tables everywhere. Half of them (to the left) had a lot of people eating and half of them (to the right) were covered in the food everyone brought. Everyone brought too much. It was some kind of international meeting and there were banners and signs on mobiles above them. I reached out my hand and moved the mobiles and signs with telekinesis. I thought I guess I really don’t have to reach out my hand to move things.
I walked around the food areas wanting the food, but didn’t know if I should take any, but, in the end, used my telekinesis to take some pizza.
I remember walking on CSCC’s campus and it was an icy day. The ice on the ground was pitted as if it was snow, melted, then snow, rained, then melted, and refroze.
Someone drove the wrong way into one of the parking lots, then blocked cars parked in the handicap areas including the ramp. I kept telling someone how much of an asshole move that was.
I remember slipping and falling on the ice.
Later, I remember having to take a complicated way into a building and finding that I didn’t have shoes. I lost them out in the parking lot.
