I remember being in a “dream game” environment and there were blue lockers everywhere, even on central pillars. I had a heavy black backpack somehow hung on my locker. A female character told me to run because something bad was coming. I wanted to see what this bad thing was and defeat it. I knew I didn’t have time to grab my stuff, so I just hid behind a pillar and watched a moving, changing space/object enter the room. It was crawling on the floor and I didn’t know how to defeat it or if it could hear my heartbeat or smell me. I tried to stealth it by staying on the opposite side of the pillar as it moved around. I don’t remember if I had a weapon, but the scary thing turned into a VERY large, but adorable bulldog. I thought it was clever because it’s cute AND can kill you and I’d feel bad about even attempting to hurt a dog. It was sniffing out my location, though.
This “game” ran a few times and I remember remaking it to have either a wooden or metal bat randomly appear in any of the lockers.
I was telling someone about my 3D interface idea for my final project and they said something similar had been done with a wall mounted shelf and the user would take objects and put them in the shelf to run a specific program. I was like, “I stealing this idea!”
Later, I woke up and realized that was from my own mind. I went back to sleep trying to think how I could use it in waking life. I thought of something in Dream 4.
I remember being in a mall similar to the one on E. State Street. The floor had square brown tiles and the storefronts were openings to “dream games” or environments. I would love to use this in waking life as ways people could go from a landing page to other programs. Second Life used signs and boxes as portals, this dream had a seamless entry into the environments.
I kinda wanted to go to the Cincinnati Zoo for some reason, but the opening went down a half-mile path under a highway just to get to the zoo. I was thirsty and needed water and thought it was a lot of needless walking, especially without water. I do remember a food truck that was selling flavored ice off to the left of the tunnel entrance that reminded me of the one that was outside the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum back in July.
I took the tunnel and ended up in what looked like a Goodwill store. I was confused because I was trying to get to the zoo. I looked around and there was a kiosk of small novelty pamphlets. One had an image of my dad. I laughed and picked it up and looked through it thinking my dad did some random side project. I looked back and the image changed to someone similar looking, but not my dad. That should have been a sign I was dreaming since I even had a conversation around 3 weeks ago in waking life where Owen told me to look at text or a clock or image, look away, then look back and if it changed, I was probably dreaming. But, of course, I just chalked it up to being wrong in the first place.
I somehow ended up in a “social room” where they are like group chats/rooms in that old Palace program from the late 1990s/early 2000s. The people there were hippies all gathering to write songs about the sun or something and their room reminded me of the 60s/70s – way too much corduroy and saffron-colored things. My Intro to VR teacher was part of the group and was the only one who recognized me.
I randomly yelled out, “BOOKSTORE!!!!!” at him and the others. I had just come up with the idea I’d use the wall-mounted shelving idea where people could place books in the shelf and use augmented reality to access the book trailer, more information, etc. and featured books could be in the shelves on a wall.
I remember leaving a party that took place during the day at a large white house. Grace got in her car and I got in mine. Kristy got in Grace’s car and they were planning a trip to Florida and talked about how they planned to have a great time.
It was raining out and the ground was muddy. Grace was driving her car, but the positions of the driver seat and passenger seat switched so Grace was on the same side as I was. We had our doors open and somehow drove backward without the doors hitting.
Grace got out and closed my door. I planned to let her leave first. Instead, she pushed my car out of a muddy rut. I wasn’t expecting it, so I took a second before trying to back up and turn the car. As I turned the car, I saw in the side mirror and backup camera feed that the yard drops of a steep hill. I also remember a shed, dog house, or outhouse on the drop-off that was yellow with a logo – I think it was exposed insulation.
I stopped before I went off the side and both Grace and I sighed in relief. Then, the car started moving backward, sliding in the mud. It accelerated and fell backward off the cliff and flipped. Once I knew it was too late to do anything, I closed my eyes, prepared for the impact by relaxing my body, and prayed.
I remember being at a house party and flirting with some guy, but obviously, the drunker girl on his left was getting his attention a bit more than I was.
I remember waking up later and cleaning up the house. It appeared that a group of guys all ordered personal pizzas. I thought it was a waste of money and they could have ordered many extra large ones and split them.
One of my biggest fears in waking life is swallowing pills. My throat automatically closes off when I put them in my mouth.
In a dream, I was prescribed a drug that started with a B and ended with “van” and it was a gold gel inside a large capsule. After trying to swallow it several times, it split and turned into two smaller pills. I thought this would help, but decided to go to another room.
It was a different apartment than my waking one – possibly the house the party was at in the previous dream. I remember trying to flip on the light for the living room, but flipped the wrong one and it shut down the power to the kitchen appliances. I turned it back on and they “rebooted.”
I remember going to some kind of conference at a university in Washington state. Their colors were purple and gold and I remember they had a seal on a lot of things.
There was a part where I offered to drive a carpool to lunch. There were city buildings surrounding the college, so I assumed it was a college town and there had to be somewhere close to eat. However, I couldn’t find my van. I walked to the far end of the parking lot, telling the others about my habit of parking far away for the exercise, but then remembered my dad dropped me off. Then I thought, Washington state is such a far way to drive…
There was another part of the dream where I had to play some kind of old computer game or simulation (all type) and I was afraid it was going to ask me for financial information or not work half way through. It did work, and for free, so I assumed it was because I chose a name to input that was a general one programmed to work as a “default” or “admin” entry. The input was Charlie’s* real name.
It didn’t dawn on me until later today (after waking up) that it’s a password I use for some things. However, in my dream, it was the plain text of the word when my password (in reality) is a cipher of it.
Wonder what that all was inspired by…
Note: I just did a search and found out the colors are actually University of Washington colors and one thing that stood out was no memorable animal/mascot images that I’m used to at the colleges in the city I’m from, just a seal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_washington
I remember being teamed up with some guy who looked ex-military to participate in an Amazing Race-style game sponsored by National Geographic. It was pretty cool because there was some trivia involved and we had to seek out “markers” to gain points and be told a clue to another marker. They looked like the National Geographic symbol and floated above the ground. They were only about 8-12 inches tall and we had to spin them with our hands or kick them.
I didn’t recognize the guy I was teamed up with, but he was a nice guy and very smart. We were ahead in the game. I remember one point where I found the next marker outside of a one-story municipal building. I rushed over and kicked the marker and the guy came over to read the clue. I don’t know if I heard part of the clue and went on or what, but I remember taking off toward another building looking for the next clue and the guy stayed behind yelling for me.
I never saw him again.
I remember hours later, going into a building and explaining that we were in a race and if that was the spot the clue said to seek out. It was, but the women at the counter looked at me rudely because they thought I was unprofessional. They said the next step was to watch a movie about something and the showings were at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. It was around 2:30 p.m. at that time, so I thought that would give me an hour to hunt down the guy.
I could not find him. I found a LOT of gold (it gave you points to help out if you were bad at trivia) near a “starting point,” but the game would not let me collect it until I was finished with the marker in progress. Another team started at that starting point and grabbed almost all the gold as well as hitting markers within the gold for trivia questions. I continued to try to grab the gold items to cash in when the marker was completed. However, I realized I didn’t have a way to carry the gold. I thought I could use my shirt, but by that time, the gold in my arms crumbled and disappeared.
