I remember some random scenes of troughs made with cement, sprayed with graffiti, and five large black rubber conduits in a warehouse. I thought they looked large enough to crawl through. This was related to “open” and “closed” information – I’m not sure what this meant, but realized the order/pattern the information was received as a message in itself.
I remember a scene where I had to go to a meeting or class in a rehabbed warehouse. The parking lot was faded and weeds had grown through the cracks. There was a swing ride that looked similar to the Cedar Point ride that killed someone recently. The swings went off to the side, right over the path I needed to take. I watched the pattern and was able to safely run to the building. The ride was turned off and abandoned later in the dream.
There was a scene in a rehabbed building – it had high ceilings and open room configurations. The walls were painted gray. I remember looking around and finding a “clue” under the bed. The floor was covered in tile and one tile was an album cover of some sort.
I remember giving a classmate (10+ years older than me with a young personality, no one I know in waking life) a ride in a hybrid car across a small section of the lot. I drove it horribly. When I parked outside of the warehouse, we talked about how we were about to start a four-week class.
I remember a scene in a class and our team was led (by automatic choice) by a coworker from waking life that I always admire for her leadership skills and how she steps into that position because she knows what she’s doing. We were drawing scenes on large post-its (that we use in waking life). I remember wanting to make the flooring in my scene look better. There was a part where I was rehanging my post-it, but it was against the window and was the kind without the sticky part. Instead, there were these plastic “pins” that could be inserted into rubber holes installed in the window ledge to hold the paper up. I thought it was a neat design.
Later, the room was filled for an orientation. It was going on either 1 or 2 p.m. (the clocks were all different). I hadn’t had lunch and wondered if it was too early to leave. There was a large box of four-packs of pudding things, but each serving was over 300 calories. I didn’t want to eat just one pudding thing for lunch. I later found a “front desk” area with some kind of large candy and a basket with Kellogg’s crisps (strawberry flavor). I picked up the candy, thinking about trading the pudding for it, but also thinking there isn’t anything saying I have to pick just one thing, so I thought about taking one of each. That’s when some woman who worked there asked what I was trading and I said the pudding for the candy.
I joined in some line to finish paperwork – I remember a small restroom on the right. The line went around and down some stairs. I was worried that I didn’t have enough information to finish the paperwork, so I got out of the line and let the less patient guy in a red shirt behind me go ahead.
I’ve been watching too much Fringe lately!
The first dream was the character Peter on Fringe trying to outwit some supernatural being. He threatened to gouge out her eye with a twisted paperclip. She did a martial arts move and got the paperclip and threatened him with it as he kept a straight face.
The second dream was influenced from hearing if I got on full time at my job. (I did, BTW!)
I remember my boss (the vice provost) telling me she wanted to speak with me. She went into a room and I saw other people lining up at the door to speak with her. I have been waiting a long time to hear if I got this job, so I went and stood at the door.
I looked in and she was speaking with four other people as if they were about to begin a meeting. I noticed she looked decades younger. She looks young and smiles a lot in waking life, but she looked to be in her early 20s. I looked back at the line at the door – it was now larger and I noticed the styles of their clothing and the technology around appeared to be from the ’70s.
I blinked and things changed to look to be from the early ’90s.
I kept wondering if I were time traveling in some weird way. I thought 1972 for some reason and looked into the room with the line. At a nearby desk, I saw some girl I felt I knew from the present. She was wearing this bright neon-like green dress – it reminded me of the one my mom had from the ’70s. I thought, I can’t be time traveling, I know that girl and she looks the same in the “future.” Then, I thought, “…unless she’s a time traveler, too!” She looked at me winked and said, “I’ll see you in 2012.”
I can’t remember the rest of the dream.
I dreamed that I was going to an apartment building I planned to move to in the dream. It was a large house with small apartments on one side and a common area on the other.
I remember having to walk through a gooey water-based substance to enter the front yard. I put my hand through it and it reminded me of the consistency of runny egg yolk. I closed my eyes and went through it.
It took me a while to decide to walk through it – I didn’t realize the tenants of the building were waiting in line behind me and I felt bad making them wait.
I remember looking around the building and didn’t like the number of stairs I had to go up and down. There were stairs in the common area (which had maroon carpet) and steps outside from the porch to the yard. I remember disliking how one of the tenants smoked in the common area. I also remember a dachshund outside.
I have been having sleep attacks all week, this one, I remember a little bit of my dreams because I made it to my bed:
The rest of the time was in and out of sleep paralysis that I recognized but wasn’t afraid of. I hallucinated/dreamed my printer printing a document during this state and questioned, while still asleep, if my printer was even turned on. I even dreamed yelling, “Hello?” thinking someone had broken into my apartment to use the printer. I was going to tell them to help themselves to whatever food I had (my weird way of responding to break-ins, thinking B&E criminals aren’t usually out to hurt people, just take things).
Maybe it’s from watching Revolution, but I had a post-apocalyptic dream. A group of people and I were camping near a lake that had hills around it (like southeast Ohio hills).
There was a scene near sunset where one of the young girls found out some news about an impending danger. She had to warn another camp, that her boyfriend was with, about it. She jumped in the lake and started swimming. I remember she had a faded purple hand-kitted top. I jumped in and swam after her because the other camp was a couple of miles by water and I knew she wouldn’t make it.
As I was swimming, I was worried that I’d catch up with her so far out that we couldn’t make it back. I had hoped that a guy who was a faster swimmer would get her. I jumped in only as a gesture.
Later, there was a scene where something called a “blast wave” went buy on the water and churned the water as it went by. It “bounced” off a hill and went back. I hoped that it would just go back and forth, but instead, it came at us.
It looked like glass or a liquid as it came closer, distorting the view behind it. When it hit, it was like a big gust of wind. An older lady in the group said it leaves radioactive air behind it, but the women in the group can survive it longer than the men.
I remember taking a test and then attending training in a college classroom.
Two guys demonstrated a weapon that looked like a small blue plastic handgun that fired a stream of blue/green fire. I thought, if I knew those existed, I would have gotten a better grade on that test!
A girl in the group didn’t like that this was going to be a two-week training course and asked if she could somehow finish it in three days. I don’t remember the answer.
Later, the training class was getting bread and fish (there’s a biblical reference in there somewhere), but the fish was whole freshly caught fish. I remember throwing a Pepsi can into a weird recycling bin and looked back and was going to lose my spot in line! I was carrying too many things – an almost empty bottle of hand lotion, some other item, and a disposable plate with too much popcorn. I remember eating the popcorn and wondered why we are getting bread and fish after being served way too much ice cream and now popcorn. I accidentally spilled my popcorn on the table, but was next in line, so I thought I’d go back in a few minutes to clean it up.
Once I got to the part of the line with the trainers, the trainer disappeared, like, went invisible. I thought it was a problem with my contact lenses since I could still hear him. He had a heavy German accent and sounded like he wasn’t confident in his knowledge of English. I kept finding popcorn stuck to my mouth and would eat it and wipe my mouth, apologizing. Having my mouth full probably didn’t help him understand me. I couldn’t understand him because I couldn’t see his lips and the crunching of the popcorn was loud in my head.
Eventually, he gave me an example: he said what high school he went to and what the mascot was. It was something with “cats” at the end. I told him what my high school and their mascot was, but didn’t understand why it was relevant.
Then, I woke up.
