I have been playing Uncharted 3 recently as well as thinking about how some of the cinematography techniques could be used with 360 video and it ended up in my dream as a 3D/virtual reality version of the hanging train scenes from Uncharted 2. It was AWESOME. I could watch pieces of train fall at me, then look down to watch them fall below me. I was trying to figure out how to make this scene when I woke up.
I remember trying to sleep in a new apartment. My furniture wasn’t there, yet, so I was sleeping on the only thing I had – my couch. The apartment was on an upper floor of a city building. It was converted from some office because the door was a window door with an office lock. I remember trying to sleep, thinking about how similar the windows were to my old apartment, but this one had three windows instead of one. A neighbor started blasting some song and I tried to ignore it since it was the weekend. I thought, “Did I lock my door?” Then thought, “No one is going to just walk in…oh, wait, I would.” So I got up to lock the door.
The kitchen area was created out of the reception desk and was the opposite of my old apartment. The door was across from it, facing into an alcove instead of straight into the hall like my old apartment. I opened the door to check the areas in which I’d be visible to someone in the main hall. My neighbor had a solid white door and I thought I’d ask my landlord for one of those. To my left, there was a public restroom and drinking fountain. This apartment reminded me of an apartment I lived in in another dream.
This dream started out with my mom and I visiting some old lady, but I felt as if we were being held there instead of visiting. I remember being mad that someone took a whole can of my energy drink because I brought it and wanted it.
I looked out the window and the view was of a back parking lot area surrounded by one-story business buildings. In the center, there was a huge crater/pothole with a “tiny village” in it. It looked like a recreation of some old German town, but the buildings were like big dollhouse size.
Later, I found myself in the same location, but the crater was a pond with ducks and rare birds. My mom kept trying to get me to look at some black bird with a white tuft that looked invisible when in the water. Someone called it a Jack-bird or something.
This turned into me watching a standup by a local news reporter reporting on the rare birds. Once they finished, I heard in my earpiece (I guess I was part of the news team?) a conversation asking if the reporter was finished. Since she was, men around the pond started gathering the birds – most were limp (either dead or sleep). They told me the business was moving, but it sounded like they were out to kill the birds. I rushed over and grabbed a white goose – it looked like the Aflac one and tried to steal it to rescue it. I thought I could keep it as a pet if it was still alive – I never checked if it was breathing. A lady I knew from the business looked at me weird holding a goose when she was letting in a cleaning crew. I snuck around the back of the building to avoid more run ins with the staff and the same girl exited the building just as I was passing. She never said anything about the goose, but I made it around to my car – some rental that was a dark gray four-door sedan. I put it in the back seat and remembered looking at the buildings thinking the place has changed a lot over the last few years.
I remember playing a VR game. The setting was in a “town” and I found my way stealthy into an “office” or whatever that was a one-room shed designed to look like a place to store stuff to explore a nearby lake or forest.
The story was told through interaction with items and areas of the room. The areas were marked by a floating white ball (like in Beyond: Two Souls) and I remember having to hold a button (or make a hand gesture) and a circle would form around the white ball before triggering the item/area.
One part had a task where I had to find a label or word on the bottom of an item. I remember picking up the items and turning my hand/controller to look underneath them, but messed up the position of the items and made too much noise. An enemy person was about to enter the office, so I tried to hide. I finally found a location behind the door that worked, but I thought about looking up playthroughs on YouTube to see the other options.
One of the many dreams I had last night started with me around a group of high schoolers and teachers in a mountainous area. I remember leaning up against a stone wall and took a photo of what was beyond it with my phone. The photo was of mountains and I complained saying that it wasn’t Ohio (where I live in waking life) or Virginia (where we supposedly were in the dream). We were outside of some bunker, which was called a high school.
Someone saw there was a snow storm (like a sand storm, but with snow) coming and told everyone to hold hands with someone so it will be easier to navigate in the dark inside. The heavy metal mechanical door opened and we all ran at it. I hesitated and was grabbed by someone. The last guy followed and made it so that he could tell I was there and to grab on if he wanted. He did and we went through dimly-lit corridors.
I walked around and discovered what looked like straight corridors with the one leading to the door in the center and there were elevators on the ends. I thought about taking the elevator up to explore some more, but I didn’t know how safe it would be with the snow storm coming.
Later, I was frustrated with the chaos and almost stepped up to help organize everything (starting with a head count and names) when a group of teachers started working on a plan. I was about to join them, but I realized my character in the dream was a high school student with no authority.
Part of this “school” dealt with a religion I didn’t recognize, but it involved a frog and some white animal – a rabbit or a swan? and someone felt bad about the main girl in the religious story, who I pictured as Alice in Alice in Wonderland.
I remember later wanting to leave, but I was trapped.
Random other parts:
I remember being in the kitchen at my parents’ house and they had friends over. One let me unpack a collapsible/mobile weapon that appeared to be made of lightweight white plastic with a clear covering. I remembering making sure I didn’t accidentally pull the trigger while holding the main part of it while assembling it. I thought the lightness of it was neat, but the size of it didn’t seem very functional.
They wanted to go outside and play with the weapons. Instead of the neighbor’s house, there was an open field with targets. I wanted to try the weapons, but I was late for a movie. I knew the movie would suck, but it had been a while since I had seen a movie in a theater, so decided to do that instead.
However, I don’t remember actually seeing the movie.
This dream had a fast decay rate – I felt the memory disappearing as I tried to remember it. All I remember now is sitting in an airport and there was an ad to my right. It was one of those “sail” ads with a curved top. I remember Charlie* being there, behind me, but nothing else.

I dreamed that I had gotten some kind of government job and visited the previous job and my boss from that job brought me into the restroom to talk. She’d only talk to me with the water running and me washing my hands. The new job people injected an RFID chip in my left arm and she thought it could record audio and thought the running water and the hand rubbing would interfere with the audio recording.

I remember, vaguely now, leaving a room because it was 10:30 a.m. and walking down the steps of an indoor amphitheater. The seats were made of concrete and painted white. At least one student recognized me and offered me a seat in the crowded room. I got frustrated at the bottom because I walked through spider webs.
There was a scene where I was sinking in a wooden boat next to a dock with a wooden ladder. I didn’t care that much. Later, I had to go down the ladder to get to another one and there were eels in the water. I was frustrated because I didn’t want to deal with them. I talked to them asking them to not bother me, but they still came up and bit my hand – it was semi-playful though. It reminds me of when I’ve played with dogs – they don’t bite all the way when they are playing. I waved my hand to get them to let go.
