I haven’t had much time to write, er, blog here lately..
Recently:
-) Found out that I took classes that will require me to be around the city of Columbus and off campus a lot this quarter..
-) I was hoping to get my license in the Break, but that didn’t happen..Dan called me this morning and I’ll be training at 8:30 in the morning the week of April 18th..
-) Our digital photography class is collaborating with marketing, advertising, and multimedia classes to work for a real-life client..I guess it’s the biggest collab class in the central Ohio area or something because The Ohio State University collabs marketing and advertising classes (for seniors in their FOURTH year) and we are collabing 4 classes and we (Columbus State Community College) are a TWO-year college..some of my classmates are in their 2nd quarter I think..
-) My digital teacher said they have something called a 2 + 2 thing with Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD) and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and I’m not quite sure how, but supposedly after this quarter students are able to transfer to either college and get a bachelor’s degree..so signs are pointing to me someday MAYBE going to CCAD (on a scholarship) to major in either photography or media studies and double major in Fashion Design..I’m gonna be a professional student! lol..I already am by going to a Communiy College for my third year..
-) You know how I wanted to become a student ambassedor at CSCC? Well, I asked Matt Lester about how do I do that and he said they have to choose their replacements and he’s choosing me to replace him next quarter..all I have to do is remember to apply (hopefully this week) and figure out when the informational meeting is so I can go..it would be nice to have a campus job where I do things similar to what I already do..
-) Well, I pitched yesterday..I hope the class liked my idea, even tho everyone I talked to on Monday about the idea (not the final supernatural killer and not PHYSICAL character version) and they said it sounded like Secret Window or the Dark Half..well, it’s not cuz in Secret Window, the writer becomes his split personality/pen name and in The Dark Half, the writer becomes his pen name as well..I’m having a evil force take over other people to do what the writer says..
If my story is chosen:
I almost wrote some scenes in, but changed them before I did because I knew we had to shoot in Columbus..so instead of the streetlight exploding, a car runs over a dog and explodes..of course in my head, I picture the scene to be out of frame, so you see the writer write the scene, see the drunks driving, hear a screech of a car (while showing the writer), and hear a crash and explosion..the writer looks out the window and you can tell by the lighting (flickering orange) on the writer’s face that something is on fire..
My story is set in 4-6 settings: Writer’s aparatment, City street, Newpaper office, Police Department/Jail maybe a bar..
The jail will be a hard scene to shoot..if we can’t find a jail, we would have to make a cardboard cut-out of cell bars and light it so the shadow of bars would be on the writer..maybe either keep the bars out of frame or shoot in a way the bars are so blurry you can’t tell it’s cardboard when we shoot the lawyer/police guard..
I though the “Columbus Dispatch” was a copyrighted name so I made the writer work for “Natesville Dispatch” (the city name was my dad’s idea..I like “Natesville”)..so we could shoot an etablishing shot of the Newspaper office by shooting still shooting this building/downtown area Source: UrbanOhio.com, which I for some reason remembered it as saying “The Columbus Dispatch” and was gonna cut off “Columbus”..but this is even better!..3? of my classmates work on the Courgar News design team and a classmate from science said that newsprint can be purchased at Utrecht up on North High and Kinkos is down the street, so hopefully creating a “Natesville Dispatch” (one issue, mostly blank or with greeking) wouldn’t be too hard and the long shots could have Columbus Dispatch articles and no one could tell the difference..
I’m trying to think of something that wouldn’t be EXTREMELY hard to shoot..or draw for that matter since I have to draw up storyboards (luckily that deadline was postponed another week)..
I’m having fun going around asking my friends if they wanna be killed..I still have to ask Kitty and Austin..I love getting weird reactions and then I tell them it’s for a movie..It’s nice because I don’t have to get people with acting experience and stuff for the dead body or bystander..I told them it’s only a back up because I don’t know whose script will be filmed and what actors the others have..
I plan to buy a camcorder (finally after forever, ok, a year or so, of wanting one) and having potential actors act for me in front of it and keep it even for later personal projects when I’m looking for actors..plus, I wanna be able to be like, able to show the others who I know might be good and see if it works for their character..I’m thinking of asking a couple of newpaper guys I know to see of they are interested and can act because I know some guys that would be great as the main guy (to the picture in my head of the character) and I have no clue if they can act and can have them try before we even start..nice thing is that if they are newpaper club/staff people, they are at least volunteer-type people and not totally shy..
Again, it would be nice to do some of my scripts (make the film, I mean) with a group outside of school when we all get out of college..nice thing is that I’ve been at CSCC SO LONG that if I ever wanna shoot their or something, I know faculty there that might let me..if only we were shooting this thing in Ashville..my dad knows top town people including the police and firemen and it would be somewhat easy for me to tell them I’m his daughter and get access to shoot in almost anywhere in town..
The other classmates’ ideas were neat..the girl who sits behind me (I’m bad with names) had a fun one about an action parody set in an office building..That one dude (see how bad?) had “sex, drugs, and violence” in his story which would be fun lol..supposedly whose ever movie will be shown in some film festival on campus..
I think in my treatment I pulled off the “She lifts her head off the table” effect with me writing in the same style and time goes by in the same way and then in one part, it quickly switches scenes to disorient or to annoy the reader..I hope to make it work in the script and editing (if it’s chosen)..
Oh, yeah, we also have to score our own movies..I SUCK AT THIS!! so I’ve been trying to listen more to movies and tv scenes to think about what I want..unless I can get a local band to sign a release..
You know what else I suck at? Directing..my way of directing is this: “Act” or for photography, I say, “Pose”..nice thing is I’ve always had models so they knew what I meant or came up with something better..I might be a perfectionist to how a scene is shot/how I want a scene to be lit, but I trust that the actors know what they’re doing..
I have to work on making sure things like bookbags, certain people, and the mat the actors fall on is out of the frame..
-) I still have to declare my new major, darn it..
I have more, but I gotta go to EASY crap science..gawd, we did the metric system on Tuesday..converting centimeters to millimeters..some people actually had trouble..sometimes I wonder if I shouldn’t have spent 50 bucks to test out of it..but then again, my teacher DOES sound a little like Coach-Z from Homestar Runner..just more Ohioan/Columbusian..
