I was listening to the Barenaked Ladies holiday CD and of course, “Carol of the Bells” is one of my favorite songs, but DUDE!! their instrumental version is really cool!

So my brain wrote this music video idea to go with the song:

It starts out slow and mellow..

- A guy (in his 20s) wakes up alone and turns off his alarm clock
- A girl (in her 20s) is wonken up by her dog..she is alone as well
- Each one alone in their apartments get out of bed and do their daily rituals..the guy shaves, the girl puts on make-up on, the guy gets his bag and goes out toward the door, the girl puts a leash on her dog and drags it toward the door

The music becomes faster with the “Ring Christmas bells” part and higher pitched..

- They live near each other (but never see each other) and they both leave their places and go off doing the mundane, yet hurried morning activities, such as getting coffee, taking the bus, walking the dog to a friend’s house, etc.
- The guy goes into an office building and gets into an elevator
- The girl runs across a college campus and rushes inside a building and into an elevator
- The guy works in a cubicle and when he sits down

The deeper instument comes in..

- The guy’s boss comes over and gives him more work to do and looks angry
- The guy is bored in a meeting and later, is frustrated at his computer

The higher picthed music starts..

- The girl comes into the large lecture late
- The teacher is mad
- She tries to answer questions
- The teacher is mad when she turns in her paper late
- She’s getting frustrated as she studies

The music becomes steady..

- They both return home

Next day:

- The girl exits her apartment

The music gets high pitched and sounds multiple, almost like birds..

- The girl’s friends come along and they walk away

As the high pitch music continues..

- The girls are at the mall and are having fun eating
- They spot a group of guys and start talking about how cute they are

- The guy is one of the guys the girls were looking at and the guys are looking back, interested
- It goes back and forth

- The girls keep nudging the girl to go talk to the guy
- The guys keep pushing the guy to go talk to the girl

- They both refuse shyly

The music slows down and has this nice “ahh” hum and like, short breaths

- The girl and the guy are doing everday things, but time is slowed down
- They both see couples in love and start to envy them..like, the guy sees a co-worker on the phone with his wife and couples in the park..and the girl sees a couple on the bus and a couple walking their dogs
- The girl is walking her dog alone in the park when they see each other
- The guy almost gets up and approches her when-

The “ring Christmas bells” part starts again in a low key..

- The guys friends see him and talk to him

- Later, they are walking and talking while going down the side walk

The higher pitch music comes in..

- People start to pass them
- Including the group of girls

- They look at each other

- Next, both groups are at an outdoor ice rink
- They both are trying to get them to talk to each other

The music slows again with the “ahh” and breaths..

- They guy comes forward
- The girls move out from in front of the girl
- They both skate toward each other and stop in front of each other

THE END.

I orginally thought I’d end it with them happy together, but I think it’s better to cut it off before they even talk to each other.
